Announcing the Fall 2018 teaching schedule! I will be holding four classes in September/October at Lovelyarns in Baltimore MD – two Beginning Spindle Spinning Classes and two Advanced Spindle Spinning Classes.
Beginner’s classes will teach you everything you need to know to get started spinning your own yarn on a drop spindle; you will leave with a spindle of your own, some fiber for practicing, the yarn you spin in class, and a full set of extensive directions!
Advanced class is the next step to making the textured yarns of your dreams. Bring your spindle and some spun singles, and I will provide some fiber, plying thread, and detailed instructions. Techniques covered in this class include: thick and thin singles, adding locks or other items into a yarn, spiral ply coils, granny stacks, corespinning, “ply-on-the-fly” chain/N-plying.
For more details and to register for classes, visit the Lovelyarns website or give them a call at 410-662-9276.
Book a Private One-on-One or Small Group Class!
One on one or small group classes are offered on an on-demand basis, within a selected schedule that offers options for weekday or weekend sessions. Small classes allow students to get the most out of their time with their teacher. You can book for yourself or you and a friend! Current class offerings are Intro to Spinning on a Spinning Wheel, Spinning on a Drop Spindle, or Spinning Textured Yarns. You may also purchase a block of time for open tutoring in any spinning subject except for an Intro class; please make sure to specify what you are interested in when you book your class. Classes are not considered booked until paid for; I can email you an invoice via Paypal or Square, whichever you prefer, for your convenience.
You have some options as to where classes can happen! I am currently a traveling teacher; I usually teach in coffee shops, Panera, or a comparable location. Drop me an email or call and we’ll chat about places near you.
About rescheduling and cancellations:
For any class scheduled directly with me: Full refunds will be given for any classes cancelled by the instructor. Class sessions canceled due to weather conditions will be rescheduled.
Students who withdraw from a paid class more than 48 hours before the start of the class will receive full credit toward a future class. Students who cancel with less than 48 hours notice forfeit their class fee unless they reschedule. Rescheduling is encouraged; however, rescheduling a class with less than 24 hours notice will result in a $10 fee. I work hard to prepare for classes, so I encourage students to be prompt and treat their time accordingly. [as I will yours!] Lateness without prompt communication will result in your time with me being docked.
Currently I am offering these classes: Intro to Spinning on a Drop Spindle, Intro to Spinning on a Wheel, and Spinning Textured Yarns, as well as private classes that are designed to your needs. To develop a private class just for you, I encourage you to call or email Christiane [me] to discuss your wishes.
Any classes scheduled/booked through a third party must be cancelled though that source.
About the Introduction to Spinning on a Wheel Class:
I teach spinning with a spinning wheel using your wheel or mine; I provide fiber, and detailed instructions, book recommendations, and website references to take home. I spend time educating the student about the general history of spinning, and I explain the differences in fibers and preparation [and I bring a ton of various fibers as visual/textural reference]. I cover different styles of wheels and how to maintain one, and a bit about yarn construction – then I get the student spinning. I’ll introduce plying and explain how to skein, measure, and set the twist in yarn. You will leave with yarn that they can knit or crochet! This class is $85 per person for a 3 hour class. This class is currently limited to one person at a time.
