So I’m doing something a little different this week, in lieu of Community Thursday [which will be back next week, in full glory] – it’s been getting a little tougher to crank out the weekly link-love-fest regularly, and my schedule is starting to get… interesting… so I’m going to use one of these Thursdays a month to keep you updated on what I’ll be getting into each month!
Two really great things are happening next week.
Sometimes, you get surprised in the best way. And sometimes that surprise is something that will be delightful for everyone involved!
In this case, my surprise was receiving an invitation from one of the top fiber artists in the field, Natalie Redding of Namaste Farms, to collaborate. When I say surprise, I also mean honor, joy, thrill, and excitement! Her dyeing skills are legendary, and when she asked me to choose a colorway for her to make into a Scrapbox and then spin it live in a Google Hangout with her… obviously, I was over the moon!
I chose a colorway influenced by something beautiful I’ve recently experienced – orchids on view at the US Botanical Garden in DC, which Christopher took me to see, unexpectedly and wonderfully. Natalie captured those orchids perfectly in the fiber, pictured above. She chose a combination of mohair, Corriedale, Cormo, mohair, silk sliver, Polwarth/Silk roving and Teeswater to reflect not only the petals but the stems and leaves of a yellow, white and pink Orchid. Also included in the Scrapbox is Angelina, silk ribbon, threads, yarns and an assortment of add ins. It is truly exquisite and full of spinning possibilities.
And speaking of possibilities, if you want to see what I’ll be creating with this glorious Scrapbox, please purchase your box then join Natalie and myself on April 12th at 6pm EDT – using the link that you’ll receive after purchasing your Scrapbox – as I spin this collaboration live on Google Hangouts!

And if you live in the general Baltimore area, you can see me IN PERSON next weekend!
I am SUPER excited for this new monthly gig – I will be vending in the Bazaar section of the Baltimore Farmers Market for one date each month, starting on APRIL 17th 2016. April 17th is opening day and it should be fantastic – and in fact, the first 100 attendees will get a free shopping tote, and there will be live music and demos, too. The market opens at 7am, and goes until sell out [usually noon]. You can find the market under the Jones Falls Expressway at Saratoga and Holliday Streets. Look for me and my Spinolution wheel with the Poe sticker, demo’ing spinning and selling yarn and fiber and other goods!

If somehow you miss me at the Market this time, I’ll also be there on these dates:
