Because you probably can’t come by and see it yet, I thought it would be fun to share the progress on the studio space. Today, I spent some time putting up all my dyes & checking inventory on them, and arranging my tabletop workspace. I still need to bring the crock pot and microwave up – I use dedicated equipment, for safety’s sake – and ALL the fleeces. So many fleeces, you guys.
[you might notice the little amigurumi Zombie Xiane and Zombie Rob, hanging out on the shelves, hehee]
The next important task was to get the fleece-scouring area ready. That involved a good scrubbing of the sink and surrounding area, then setting up and organizing the space with rubber gloves, fiber wash, strainer, various basins… also, I took the time to get the kitcheny-oriented items together and neat, because people will still want to wash their dishes and get water for tea and the like there, you know?
The other major area is where the microwave will go, and where I’m starting to hang my personal yarns as a sort of installation. It’s all my own spins at the moment – my Ravelympics Ravellenic Games yarn from the last games, and my paper shred yarn… I want to add other amazing yarns from my favorite fiber artists to inspire me, too.
It looks like I should be able to start creating by this weekend. If you’d like to come by and say hello, just drop me a line and see when I’ll be there – I’d love to see you, and to show you around and if you haven’t seen them before, too!
