11-29: Community Thursday

Wealth isn’t always measured in dollar signs. We each have time, talent and creativity, all of which can be powerful forces for positive change. Share your blessings in whatever form they come and to whatever level you have been blessed. ― Jon M. Huntsman Sr.

Bear's Rainbow Blanket

Bear’s Rainbo Blanket, by the Purl Bee

Squared circles, a full spectrum of color, soft Merino wool, and a really clear and concise tutorial = possibly my favorite crocheted blanket of 2012. Am I going to make this? Maaayyyybe. Do I adore it? ABSOLUTELY.

So there’s this monthly thing that I used to be a regular part of, then life happened and I wasn’t so good at participating for a while, and now I’m back to joining in. You know how that story goes. The “thing” is an AWESOME thing – a monthly Craft Social tweet-along where folks on Twitter chat about a specific subject using the hashtag #craftsocial.
Craft Social has been a wonderful thing to be a part of – not only have I found insight and support, but wonderful friends through our tweet-alongs. This month’s topic was “Holiday 911″ and it yielded some great ideas. I wanted to share a couple of ideas that were passed along to the group, and recommend that you join us next month!

four strand scarf

A perfect tutorial for using up yarn scraps in a chic way, from The Sexy Knitter

If you have a bunch of yarn scraps around – and I know you do! – and you’re looking for a quick and cool gift or just something to snazz up the Winter wear… this is your tutorial. The Sexy Knitter does a great job of showing off every easy step thoroughly, and she points out that this is a great way to combine varying weights of yarn successfully. And it looks marvelous!

Ravens bring things to people. We’re like that. It’s our nature. We don’t like it.
