Opportunities, activity, making stuff happen

I believe that hard work creates opportunities. I also believe that having a good attitude helps, as well as trusting in one’s abilities and skills.

I also believe that if you don’t tell people AKA The Universe what it is that you want, you won’t get what you need. And you can’t always get what you want, but… you know how the song goes. 😀

I have a tool that I’ve been working with for a LONG time. I call it Xiane’s Big Wish List – original, no? I update it frequently, on paper and with a lot of thought. I then tell people about the things on it – because I am definitely powerful as one person, but when you include what I like to call the Community Brain in on your dreams, things tend to happen much more quickly.

Some of the things that have been on my list include:

• being in a band
• being a DJ
• DJing on the radio
• having my own goth club night
• running my own business
• getting to meet some of my favorite artists, musicians, writers
• finding my long-lost love from college
• having my own studio space

All of the things on that list? Those have happened. Those happened and were amazing and to some people, seem almost fantastical to see listed out like that – I mean, it’s a pretty good list of “crazy impossible dreams” – isn’t it?

But I am here to tell you this: almost nothing has been out of reach. And I’m not special! I’m not some super-lucky girl with superpowers. I am just as scared as most people to talk about what I want, but I do it. I didn’t start from a place of money and power. In fact, I’m still struggling most days to keep the money flowing [the spice must flow!] and juggle everything – but as I’ve said before, that’s not the most important thing to me. LIVING is the most important thing. Having the experiences that I’ve dreamed of – that’s important. Being happy and bringing happiness to others, knowing that I don’t hate what I do for a living, and waking up loving my life – that’s the key, to me.

And how do I get that? I work hard, I love hard. I make friends and help people, and in return, I ask for help. I know that sometimes what I ask for, I won’t get – but I might get what I NEED. And I trust that opportunities will open up, because I am asking for them and working for them and being thankful when they come my way.

And speaking of working hard – I just HAVE to share with you the mega pile of batts I have to take with me to SpinQuest. Here’s one of those “don’t compare yourself” moments in person: my mega pile is, when compared to the output of some fiber artists, quite puny. But I am amazed and thrilled and inspired by what I’ve gotten done in a short amount of time, with small funds and one crankin’ arm [I really need to find a way to use my left arm with the carder, or I will become unbalanced!]. I have never done so many batts in one big go like this, and to me, this is a celebratory pic! 😀

Whatever doesn’t sell there, you’ll be seeing listed here ASAP. I have been having a BLAST working with some different color palettes than I usually do, and adding textures all over the dang place.
