So remember a couple of months ago, when I was wishing and hoping that I’d be able to attend Hello Craft‘s Summit of Awesome – which, incidentally, is happening this weekend in Baltimore, the city in which I live?
…yeah, I’m going to that.
There’s a couple of stories to be told here, so bear with me while I spin my tale. It’s a good one.
First, let’s talk about Summit of Awesome. You might not know anything about other than what I’ve blogged about, so let me introduce you, and if you’ve already met, then bear with me while I make introductions.
Summit of Awesome is the brainchild of Hello Craft, which is a non-profit organization that’s here to champion independent crafters and the handmade movement via education, support, and events. They offer a wealth of knowledge via their website, and have offer a crafting space that they call the “Make Something Awesome Area” at various events around the country, which allows folks to try their hand at creating something for free. How cool!
The Summit is a three day conference that features business and technical seminars as well as hands-on workshops. One can learn how to screen print, create business branding and identity, manage your website’s SEO, experiment with Gocco and letterpress techniques, and get Etsy shop critiques – and that’s just to name a FEW of the fun and educational offerings!
One can see why I’ve been dying to attend, especially since it is in the heart of Baltimore City, my wonderfully weird hometown!
Well, this is where things get… amazing.
I’ve been given the opportunity to attend the Summit, thanks to Unanimous Craft!

I will be the roving reporter for Unanimous Craft, giving y’all a day-by-day update of all the goodness that I experience – look for photos, reviews, and hopefully lots of interviews as I experience three days of learning and fun with some of the most interesting people in the independent crafting world! I’ll be linking to all the blog posts as they happen on the Unanimous Craft blog, so you will be able to go there easily and follow along.
Now a little bit about Unanimous Craft, in case you didn’t know about the kickassness that is this site: it is a wonderful compilation of resources for crafters, artists, and indie business owners. Membership is free, and you can add your own resources there as well as vote on the ones already listed, or curate a list of related resources; you can also apply to be a Regional Craftologist and report on your own local crafty world. It’s a really cool site that is chock full of useful info for anyone in the indie arts world.
Rosalie, the creator of Unanimous Craft, has my undying love for allowing me to be a representative for the site over this upcoming weekend. She deserves a whole blog post of her own, so keep an eye out for that. *grin*
One of the last bits of this tale is also one of the reinforcement of one of my strongest beliefs: if you really want or need something, and you put it out there in the Universe, you’ll get what you need. I blogged about my want to attend this Summit with no expectation that anyone owed me anything – but I knew that I would really appreciate being there and would be extremely grateful for that opportunity. The Universe found a way for me to attend *and* perform a useful function at the same time – be the roving reporter for a fantastic Indie website.
Once again, this just solidifies my belief: ask! If you don’t get what you wanted, you haven’t lost anything… and if you DO get what you were dreaming of, well – AWESOME. *cheers*
So… will you be at Summit of Awesome? I want to meet you!

Whooohoo! So glad you’re going and looking forward to seeing the Summit through your eyes!
