What’s that? You haven’t heard me babble excitedly about my appearance at this year’s Maker Faire NC at the NC State Fairgrounds on June 18th? Omggggggggg you guys. I am SO excited!
I’ll be there with some kickass cohorts, including sister-spinner Anastasia Boswell and the ever-so-helpful Juliann K [also a sister spinner!] as well as some other possible drop-in visitors… and I’ll be demonstrating the fine art of PUNK ROCK SPINNING! What’s Punk Rock Spinning, you ask?
Well, to me it’s the umbrella of all the crazy, fearless & adventuresome Art Yarn techniques one can imagine, as well as the art of making yarn out of whatever you lay hands on. I’ll be there demonstrating concepts like corespinning, auto-wrapping, coils and granny stacks – and I’ll also be showing off yarn making with any material I can lay my hands on. If it fits through the orifice of my wheel or around the shaft of my drop spindle, it’s getting spun! It’s YARNARCHY!!!
So please do drop in anytime between 10am and 5 pm if you’re in the area! It’s a great event for families, with tons of educational exhibits for all ages and interests, and it is really inexpensive, too, just four bucks for adults and two bucks for kids! I’ll have beginners’ drop spindles for sale, and plenty of fiber to play with and try your hand on – and of course, examples of art yarns and art batts!
